9. Juli 2019 – The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) accepts the reimbursement of costs for large packages of medicines (frand-frère packages) not included in the list of specialities by health insurance companies until 30 June 2020. An intervention would have led to an increase in costs, since these large packages – which have nevertheless been reimbursed by the health insurance companies up to now – lead to lower costs compared with the listed smaller packages. This is a provisional solution until the reimbursement of these packages is definitively regulated. The FOPH would like to include large packages in the list of specialities by 30 June 2020 and will therefore invite pharmaceutical companies to apply for inclusion of the corresponding large packages in a simplified procedure (for further information, see: here).
