Consultation on the extended objection solution for organ donation

18. September 2019 – The Federal Council opens consultation on its extended objection solution as an indirect counter-proposal to the initiative "Promoting organ donation - Saving lives". The will not to donate organs has to be recorded in a central registry. In the absence of a record, the Federal Council proposes to continue consulting the relatives on the presumed will of the deceased, so that they can refuse the donation. The initiative “Promoting organ donation – Saving lives” does not include a comparable provision. The aim of the consultation is a broad and in-depth discussion of the subject.
