4. November 2020 – In order to support the cantons in coping with the increasing number of hospitalisations and Covid-19 patients in intensive care, the Federal Council decided at its meeting on 4 November 2020 to renew the army's assistance service. It comprises a maximum of 2500 military personnel who can support hospitals either in the provision of care or in patient transport.
