Federal Administrative Court, Decision B-1374/2020 of 21 December 2020

18. Februar 2021 – In this decision, the Federal Administrative Court examined the rejection of an application for registration as a pharmacist's assistant in the register of medical professions (MedReg). The court held that under the revised Swiss Medical Professions Act (MedBG), anyone exercising a medical profession requiring a university degree must be recorded in the MedReg as of 1 January 2018. The complainant, however, holds a certificate of the pharmacist assistant's examination only. According to the Federal Administrative Court, persons with such qualifications do not qualify as medical professionals with a university degree and thus fall outside the scope of the MedBG. The appeal was dismissed. The decision is being appealed.
