Coronavirus: Booster vaccination for all improves protection and slows virus spread

25. November 2021 – In view of the significant increase in the number of cases in Switzerland, the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and the Federal Commission on Immunisation (FCI) recommend booster vaccination for the general population, including those under 65. This is in line with the authorisation decision of the therapeutic products authority Swissmedic. The aim is to strengthen individual protection against infection and to slow down the transmission and spread of the virus in the current epidemic situation. So far, more than 350,000 people have received a booster vaccination. These are people over 65 years of age as well as younger people who are particularly at risk and have the highest risk of becoming seriously ill. They should continue to be given priority access to the booster vaccination.
