6. Juli 2022 – The Federal Council adopted the amendment to the Ordinance on Veterinary Medicinal Products (Tierarzneimittelverordnung, TAMV) on 3 June 2022. The TAMV aims to improve the appropriate use of antibiotics in veterinary medicine and to ensure the supply of veterinary medicinal products. The revision of the Ordinance simplifies procurement of medicinal products from abroad for veterinarians. They will no longer require a special licence from Swissmedic for this. In countries with comparable veterinary medicinal product control, an electronic notification to the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) is usually sufficient. The revised TAMV will enter into force on 1 July 2022.
