10. Mai 2024 – The Federal Council wants to strengthen nursing care as an important pillar of the healthcare system and ensure its quality. In its meeting on 8 May 2024, the Federal Council submitted the draft of a new Federal Act on Working Conditions in Nursing (Bundesgesetz über die Arbeitsbedingungen in der Pflege, BGAP) for consultation in order to improve working conditions in nursing and reduce the number of people leaving the profession early. In collaboration with the Cantons, the Federal Government will also launch a broad training campaign to increase the number of nursing professionals. It is thus implementing a key part of the nursing initiative adopted at the end of 2021.
