Coronavirus: Federal Council regulates supply of important medical goods

7. April 2020 – On 3 April 2020, the Federal Council decided to transfer more competences to the Confederation in order to coordinate the supply of medical goods for the fight against coronavirus. The amendments to COVID-19-Ordinance 2 provide for a licensing requirement for certain protective equipment and medical goods from the customs territory, as well as an obligation for the cantons to report their current stocks of important medical goods. Article 2 para. 1 lit. c and article 4b et seqq. of the ordinance have been amended accordingly. Furthermore, due to the epidemiological situation, the Federal Council has authorized the Canton of Ticino to extend the restrictions on economic sectors until 13 April 2020.
