The Federal Council improves access to psychotherapy

18. März 2021 – In its meeting of 19 March 2021, the Federal Council decided that psychological psychotherapists with appropriate qualifications and a cantonal licence to practise will in future be able to work independently at the expense of the compulsory health insurance (OKP). The prerequisite is a doctor's order. The Federal Council is thus implementing a change in the system from the current so-called delegation model - in which therapists work under medical supervision - to the order model. This will give people with psychological problems easier and faster access to psychotherapy. The Federal Council today adopted the corresponding amendments to the ordinance.
