28. Juni 2024 – The Federal Council has approved the One Health Action Plan “Swiss Strategy on Antibiotic Resistance” (StAR) 2024–2027 to combat rising antibiotic resistance. This plan ensures the long-term effectiveness of antibiotics for humans and animals by focusing on early detection of resistance, monitoring antibiotic use, reducing environmental contamination, and developing new antibiotics. Implemented by federal offices in health, veterinary, agriculture, and environment sectors, the plan involves collaboration with cantons and stakeholders, with updated legislation supporting ongoing efforts.
